Dear Birthmom

We are grateful you have taken the time to read our profile and gotten to know us as potential parents for your child. You are faced with an incredibly difficult decision, and we are inspired by your courage, selflessness, and bravery. We have dreamed of expanding our family and are grateful for the opportunity to do so with your help.

We are committed to providing your child with a safe, loving, and accepting home where they will feel valued, encouraged, and supported. We will work hard to create an environment where your child will enjoy quality time with family, explore the outdoors, be exposed to different ways of participating in and serving their community, and become a person of integrity. We will teach your baby the value of love, the importance of building community, the power of acceptance, and how to try again.

This is a lifelong commitment. We will respect and support the level of involvement you feel most comfortable with to provide your child with a fulfilling life. We are committed to this experience and opportunity. We would be honored to teach your child the love and support we have been blessed with in our lives. Thank you again for considering us in your adoption process.

Our Story

Howdy! We met on a sunny winter afternoon planning to walk a mile or two. Two miles turned into eight. Fueled by sunlight and easy conversation, we discussed our shared values: family time, retreating outdoors, serving our community, and living with integrity. About a year later, we got married in 2020, enjoying a small outdoor ceremony. Chris is a sign installer, paying attention to the small details while keeping the bigger picture in mind. Landa is an elementary school teacher and works with students who are learning English; she also spent many years teaching high schoolers. While Chris enjoys videography and video games, Landa likes reading and going for walks. Our shared love of the outdoors inspires us to explore the wonders of Washington. Our son, Gene, born in 2022, reminds us to slow down, experience awe in daily life, and find joy in the small stuff.

 Our Extended Family

We are both blessed to have close-knit families with robust traditions that keep us connected. We grew up enjoying regular visits to Grandma’s house, family-centered birthday parties, annual holiday traditions, and cabin or camping trips. We still see Chris’s family often, including an annual trip to the rodeo where our nieces compete in 4H, family gatherings for birthdays, and annual Easter and Christmas celebrations that Landa’s mother joins as well. Landa’s mother is our daily childcare for our son, and we regularly enjoy quality time at her house on the weekends.

These traditions have greatly impacted who we have become as individuals and as a family. Bedtime stories, summer camping trips, and time spent outside on the weekends are traditions we have established as a family that keep us grounded and connected. Weekly walks and gatherings with friends and their families help us to celebrate the community we have built and provide us with support and perspective as we navigate parenthood. We hope to be able to share these traditions and memories with your child, providing them with a foundation of positive relationships that will provide lifelong support and encouragement.

 Our Home

We live within walking distance of the historic downtown of our small city that boasts historic buildings, small boutiques and businesses, restaurants, and a historic river walk. We live in a comfortable, two-bedroom condo split between two floors, in a small complex of 15 units of supportive neighbors. This is home to the three of us and our 12-year-old rescue dog, Cecelia. Our home is walking distance from the local primary school (K-2) and multiple parks and down the street from the aquatic center. We love that we live a short drive from many beautiful wildlife preserves and hiking trails on beautiful national forest land.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We both knew before we got married that we wanted to adopt. Chris’s mother was adopted, and she shares the positive impact this had on her life. Landa worked at an emergency foster care facility in college, where she saw the benefits adoption has on families, and she currently works with many people who have been blessed by adoption. Our relationships with our own families inspire us to extend this legacy of love and togetherness. After a miscarriage early in our marriage, we were blessed by the birth of our son and experienced the unique love that exists between a parent and child. We hope to share that love, our home, and our supportive extended family with another child.
