Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

We cannot imagine the challenges you have faced or the difficult decisions that have brought you to our profile. We know this must be one of the hardest choices anyone could ever make.

The only comfort we can offer is to share the kind of parents we hope to be if you choose us. We will be kind, nurturing, and supportive. We have so much love to give and feel that we have been waiting for the opportunity to share it. We will be thoughtful and educational, and above all else, we will be loving.

Words do not do justice to what we feel as we are writing this letter and, at the same time, likely do not capture the depth of emotion you have felt through this process. Please know, from us to you, that we want to give all we can to a child. We promise to care for them and provide a stable, comfortable, and loving home. We promise to be there when they need us—to be their protector, role model, and biggest fan. We promise, above all else, to be the best parents we can be.

Sincerely,
Evan and Rachel

Our Story

We love spending time with family and friends, and visiting them is often a highlight of our weekends. We lead active, busy lives and enjoy making the most of our time together. Much of our free time is spent caring for our chickens, playing with our dog, Mabel, or working on projects around the house.

We also enjoy a variety of creative hobbies. Rachel loves baking and crocheting, Evan enjoys woodworking and gardening, and we both love playing board games. One of our favorite activities is cooking meals together using fresh vegetables from our garden. We also enjoy preserving our harvest by canning and pickling vegetables to enjoy throughout the year.

Spending time with our three godchildren is especially meaningful to us. We love being part of their lives, sharing new experiences, and helping them learn and grow.

Professionally, Evan works in healthcare information technology, and Rachel works in gift finance for our area's leading hospital.

 Our Extended Family

Rachel has a brother and two sisters, all of whom are married with children. Evan has one younger sister who is also married with children. Collectively we have 10 nieces and nephews. Both of our parents and siblings live nearby, and we are very close with them.

Most of our aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family live within an hour of us. Throughout the year, it is common for us to gather for large family parties and celebrations, whether for holidays, birthdays, or simply to spend time together.

We are both very close with our godparents and spend time with them often. Rachel is the godmother to three boys, ranging in age from five to seventeen. Together, we are also the godparents of three additional children, ranging in ages one to four years old.

We frequently enjoy game nights with both sides of our family, which always end in friendly competition. During the summer, we spend time on the boat or at a cabin on the lake, making memories with family and friends.

 Our Home

Our home is located on 14 wooded acres on a quiet dirt road. We have chickens and a weimaraner named Mabel. She is well-behaved and just turned seven years old. She is playful, loving, and will do just about anything for a cookie. We have a large garden and a trail through our woods. We have nearby access to a variety of restaurants, and are sandwiched between two highly rated school districts. Our home is in a part of the state with many parks and lakes.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We have not adopted before and do not have any children. Rachel is a childhood cancer survivor, and as a result, we are unable to have biological children. While this has been a difficult journey, it has only strengthened our desire to grow our family through adoption.

We have so much love to give and are excited about the opportunity to provide a child with a safe, stable, and nurturing home. Becoming parents has long been a dream of ours, and we could not be more excited to welcome a child into our lives and family.
