Dear Birthmom

We cannot express how grateful we are for you taking the time to read our profile. We know you are facing an incredibly difficult decision, and we commend you for considering adoption. Your selflessness and love for your baby are inspiring.

As we write this letter, our hearts are filled with emotions about the adoption process. The journey so far has been full of excitement, nervousness, and hope. But one thing that has remained constant is our desire to provide love, support, and encouragement to a child and grow our family. We want you to know we understand the significance of the decision you are making. Choosing an adoptive family for your baby is not an easy task, and we want to assure you that if you choose us, your baby will be loved fully and unconditionally.

We hope you know we are here to support you in any way possible. We are open to communication and want you to know your feelings and wants for your baby are important to us. We are committed to providing a safe, loving, and faith-filled environment for your child to grow, learn, and thrive in. From the moment your baby becomes a part of our family, they will be cherished and loved just the same as our son is.

Thank you again for taking the time to consider us as potential adoptive parents. You will be in our prayers.

Our Story

We met ten years ago at a baseball game and have been inseparable ever since. Across that decade, much has changed. Lourdes entered nursing school around that time and has been a nurse for about eight years now. Josh left a career in big box retail and has had various banking roles at a major financial institution for about nine years. We were also blessed to have a son, Ben, who will be six in September. As a family, we enjoy spending time together and being active. Ben and Josh enjoy learning Brazilian jiu jitsu, while Lourdes can often be found out for walks in our neighborhood or crafting. We are also a family that loves going to baseball games, which is probably the best way we can think to spend an evening out together.

 Our Extended Family

Lourdes comes from a large Puerto Rican family. While she has two sisters, you wouldn’t know that her many cousins aren’t siblings thanks to their close bond. During holidays, you will find us in our home or someone else's dancing to Spanish music, making tostones, and playing cards. On Lourdes’s side, we have two nephews and three nieces ranging in age from 21 to two.

Josh comes from a significantly smaller but similarly close family. Much of his family is spread out across the East Coast as his siblings pursue their dreams and passions. When we gather, it is often at his parents’ place on a farm in North Carolina. Be warned though’ this is a competitive bunch when board games come out—really when it comes to anything. We even have a fantasy football trophy that gets engraved and held by the winner each year. Not to brag, but it's in our basement currently. :)

 Our Home

We built our forever home in 2019. We have a cozy basement where we enjoy movie nights and Mario Kart battles. We have space to entertain as we enjoy hosting birthday parties and holidays for our large families. We chose this neighborhood for the outstanding schools and small-town feel. We are incredibly fond of our neighbors and their children of all ages. We also have hiking trails and community parks and use them to take our highly energetic Australian shepherd out for exercise. You will often find him hiking alongside our son or jumping into creeks ensuring he is muddy before getting back into our cars. Our other dog is quite advanced in age. You can find her lying on her bed, snoring LOUDLY!

 Our Journey to Adoption

Our journey in family planning has been rocky. It took us 18 months to get pregnant with our son, which was ultimately a high-risk pregnancy. We got pregnant again with a daughter, who passed away at six days old from trisomy 13. In the time since, we have been unable to conceive. As a family, we have so much love to give, and Ben would be an amazing big brother. After some prayer, we decided to explore the avenue of adoption. In speaking with some friends who’ve adopted, we’ve learned what a blessing the process is and the joys of having adoptive children. We are convinced this is the right next step for our family.
