Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you so much for considering me to love, raise, and cherish your precious child. What you are doing for your baby is the epitome of bravery and selflessness. Although our lives don’t always end up the way we hoped, I want you to know that if you choose me, your baby will be safe, supported, and loved immensely as a part of my family.

I would not be here today, writing this letter to you, if it were not for adoption. Many years ago, another expectant mother made the ultimate sacrifice for her child and entrusted her baby’s care to an adoptive family. That baby was my mom. Your child will have a grandmother who can share her experiences and offer a special type of guidance that only another adopted child can provide. You are, and will always be, an incredibly important part of this child’s story, and you will be in their heart always. I will strive to cultivate confidence and purpose so they always know how special they are. I hope it provides comfort to know your child will be surrounded by love every day.

As you make the difficult decision about what is best for you and your baby, please know I will be praying for you. I hope you will find strength, courage, and peace as you continue through this process. I would be honored to have the opportunity to be part of your journey.

With love,
Lindsey

My Story

I grew up in a close, loving family with lots of laughter and respect for one another. When I was younger, I was involved in choir, theater, dance, and gymnastics and was taught at an early age about the importance of volunteerism. I love to sing, make people laugh, and read historical fiction. I am very outgoing and lean on my Christian faith during difficult times. I became a registered nurse after going to college initially to be an elementary school teacher. I spent some time working in commercial real estate before deciding I wanted to be in a career I felt passionate about. I have now been an RN for nine years. I feel so fortunate that I get to work with and help amazing patients. When not working, I like to travel, hang out with my dog, do yoga, work on home projects, and hike.

 My Extended Family

My family is amazing! I am the middle of three children with an older brother and younger sister, born to parents who just celebrated 51 years of marriage. They are both very active and are social butterflies. The bonds I have with my family are the most important relationships in my life. The morals and values I was taught as a child have helped me become the person I am today. My parents and my sister live near me in Indiana, so I see them often. My sister and I are very close; she is my best friend and the one who truly brings out my silly side. My brother lives out of state, but we stay in touch via phone calls, texts, and holiday visits. He is incredibly creative and is a loyal friend. Our biggest family traditions happen during Christmas. We spend time together decorating the house, baking, playing games, and reminiscing about holiday memories.

I have many aunts, uncles, and cousins, many of whom are in Indiana. We welcomed three new cousins over the past year, so I get lots of baby time at family get-togethers!

 My Home

I have lived in four different states throughout my life (CA, MA, CO, and IN) but decided to set down roots in a quiet suburb in Indiana. I bought my first home six years ago: a one-story home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a finished basement, where I work. I have a spacious backyard for my senior rescue dog, a mini schnauzer/terrier mix, Basil (“Baz”). He is a character and makes me laugh every day! I am fortunate to have found a neighborhood full of wonderful people who support and watch out for each other. My home is centrally located to schools, shopping centers, activities, and hospitals.

 My Journey to Adoption

Adopting a child has always been in my heart. The dream I have had of being a mother started when I was a little girl and has never wavered. I am on the path I was meant to follow as I turn my dream into a reality and grow my family. I have had many conversations with my own mother, who was adopted as a baby, and I am confident I will be able to provide many opportunities and a safe, loving environment for a child. I have been successful at navigating life independently but am excited at the hope of having my own family.
