Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for so many things! We haven’t met yet, but you’ve chosen to read our profile, and maybe you’ll consider us to raise your child. For that and for considering adoption so families can be built through love, thank you a million times.

Growing up, Sheila loved playing “mom” to her baby dolls, so struggling to have children has been hard for us. Thank you for considering us as parents to love your child. We want nothing more than to bring a child into our home to love and cherish. We look forward to introducing your child to our daughter and son as their new brother or sister.

There is so much we want to convey, but words can’t do our feelings justice. Please continue through our profile, and as you do, we ask you to look at our smiles and our eyes to see the love we have. We make goofy faces and play games, and adding your child to our family would make those faces and games all the more fun.

Again, from the whole of our four hearts, THANK YOU! Your selfless act of love will give us a wonderful start to our love with your child as part of our family.

Our Story

We both grew up in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. In 2009, while working at the same courthouse, Sheila saw Jimmy and thought he was cute with a great smile. Sheila asked Jimmy’s supervisor for an introduction, and we hit it off right away. We moved to Virginia for work and found a group of friends who have become family. In 2020 Jimmy’s family moved to Virginia to be closer. We now have two biological children and have been married for over 11 years. We spend our weekends watching our daughter play sports on Saturdays and at church on Sundays. We always find time for some donuts after church, a tradition we both grew up with in our families. It would be hard to explain who we are without mentioning our love for Disney. Our house is full of reminders that magic is everywhere and “ohana” means family.

 Our Extended Family

Sheila was born the fifth of six children in a tight-knit family. We get together for birthdays and support each other through phone calls, texts, and FaceTime. When Sheila’s family learned of our plans to adopt, they asked what they could do to help and cannot wait to add another family member to the squad! With the help of our kids, we bake and cook together all the time. Adding another child to our family would mean the joy of more hands to help cook and another child to pass down family recipes to.

Jimmy is the oldest of two children, and his family recently moved within ten miles of us to be closer. His aunt and cousin also live in Virginia and are closely involved in helping us raise our daughter and son. Being with family is important to us, and we cannot wait to be able to include another little one in our traditions.

In addition to our biological families, we have adopted a group of friends we call family. We spend holidays together, and every other year we all take a vacation together!

 Our Home

We live in a four-bedroom home with a fenced-in backyard where we love watching our family grow. Throughout the house, it is easy to see our love of Disney and family, with photos and paintings adorning the walls. Our home is in a diverse neighborhood with lots of young families. We can often be found at home watching a movie, playing games, or playing outside on our swingset and in the yard with our two dogs. Our dogs are a goldendoodle named Remy and a mutt named Lady von Pudding Pop. Our home is always in a state of organized chaos because toys are meant to be played with. At the end of the day, we try to clean up, but playing as a family is the most important thing to us.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We have always wanted to adopt. When Sheila mentioned wanting to adopt no matter if we could have biological children, Jimmy was 100 percent on board. After two miscarriages, our daughter was born in December 2016. We conceived again in 2019, but our second daughter was unfortunately stillborn in June 2019. With a little faith and hope, we had our second rainbow baby, a healthy baby boy, in October 2021. With each of our losses and frustrating attempts to get pregnant, adoption was always a part of the discussion. We discussed how we wanted to build our family as time went on, and adoption has always been part of our journey.
