Dear Birthmom
Dear Birthmom
We want to thank you for taking the time to learn about us and for considering adoption—a decision that takes incredible love and strength. We have been trying to grow our family for the past six years where we have experienced two ectopic pregnancies, one of which required surgery that resulted in the removal of a fallopian tube, while the other became blocked. Through this journey, we felt led to adoption as it is a beautiful way to build our family while also providing a loving and stable home for a child and supporting a birth mother who wants the very best for her baby. We hope to raise our children in a home full of love, laughter, and curiosity. Our goal is to encourage them to explore their interests, ask questions, and learn from the world around them, while also teaching them important values like empathy, responsibility, and respect for others. Our goal is to provide a childhood filled with outdoor adventures, creative projects, reading together, and participating in community activities. We could never fully understand the emotions and challenges that come with choosing adoption, but we deeply admire your courage and selflessness. We promise to honor the love you have already shown for your child. Your child will always know their story and the amazing strength you displayed in making this decision. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to show you our lives and thank you for taking the time to get to know us.
Our Story
We have been together since August 17, 2015, after meeting online and quickly realizing we shared many values and dreams. We have built our relationship on love, laughter, and shared experiences. We balance each other well—Tim is patient, hardworking, and steady, while Kara brings creativity, warmth, and energy to everything she does. We support each other’s goals and always make time for laughter, no matter how busy life gets. We love spending time outdoors, especially during spring, summer, and fall. You can usually find us by the pond, riding four-wheelers around our land, visiting customers, or simply enjoying the sunshine. In the winter, we stay cozy indoors playing games, watching movies, or finding fun things to do together. During the summer, we enjoy attending plays at the Timber Lake Playhouse, one of our favorite local traditions. Holidays are a big deal for us! We love decorating the house—inside and out—for all seasons and holidays. We look forward to sharing these traditions—and creating new ones—with a child.
Our Extended Family
Tim’s father, Richard (Duck), and his lady friend, Linda, live at the family house that is a mile away from our house. Tim’s mom, Kay, passed away in 2018. Tim has a sister, Becky, who lives about 30 minutes away. Tim’s aunt JoAnn lives just inside town and spends a lot of time with us. Tim has several cousins that live around our house within a few miles. Kara’s parents, Patrick and Angela, are about 45 minutes away from the home. Her younger brother, Dustin, and his wife, Eden, have a five year old little boy, Kyler. Kara’s grandma, who she calls Nana, lives about 45 minutes away as well. A lot of time is spent with our neighbors, Adam and Heidi, and their three daughters where we are always looking for an adventure. We also have many friends, coworkers, and customers that live close by. We share our lives with two dogs - Bailey who is an 8 year old black lab and Kosmo who is a year old yellow lab mix. We also have geese, chickens, and a horse named Thunder.
Our Home
We live in a rural, quiet, close-knit community in Northwestern Illinois, surrounded by a few small towns and a man-made lake. The local school district is small but full of caring teachers, and there are many opportunities for kids to get involved in sports, music, and clubs. We love the peace and safety of our community and can already imagine our child running around the yard, playing with the dogs, and exploring the outdoors. Our house is on roughly 30 acres of land with a pond at the bottom of the hill. We have a three bedroom, two bathroom house with additional room upstairs and in the basement.
Our Journey to Adoption
We take a yearly vacation to Iowa every year and spend the week at a festival where we camp, watch tractors, trains, and spend time out looking at flea markets and garage sales. We have been starting to take more vacations and have been finding that we like going to different places and beaches. In the last couple of years we have been to Gulf Shores, AL; Branson, MO; and many other places. There are times throughout the year we will take a random day trip to sight see or find something to do for a little getaway.
