Dear Birthmom
Dear Birthmom
Dear Expectant Mother,
We don’t think we can muster the strength to imagine the difficulty of the decision you are considering. Instead, we will say that what you’re considering is one of the bravest and kindest acts one woman can do. We have tried desperately to have children and have been met with loss after loss. What you’re doing is giving hope to us when there was no hope. You’re giving us a chance when we had no chance. All we can say is that the choice you’re considering is nothing short of heroic in our eyes.
If you choose to consider us, our promise to you is that we will never take for granted the sacrifice you have made. We will bring this child into our home and care for them with every ounce of love we have in our hearts. Whatever they choose to do and whomever they choose to be in their lives, we will do everything in our power to ensure they have every opportunity to be the very best version of themselves possible. They will always be a part of our family. They will always feel loved. They will always be protected. Most importantly, no matter what obstacles are thrown their way, we’re going to show them how to overcome them. Thank you for taking the time to consider us.

Our Story
Hi! We’re Tina and Jay. We started dating in 2017 after meeting online. Jay was in the last years of his military career, and Tina worked as a photographer and digital artist. Jay has a 13-year-old daughter named Julia from a previous marriage. We married in 2019, and Jay retired from the military in 2020. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He currently works as a professor of military science and military history at a major university. Tina is a homemaker and keeps busy with running a home, being Julia’s personal Uber, taking care of 3 dogs, and is also active with her church. As a family, we love to go out to dinner, enjoy the outdoors, hike a local trail, or sit by the firepit in the backyard.
Our Extended Family
Neither of us have large extended families. Jay has always been close with his mother, who lives in a nursing home nearby. We visit every Sunday and make sure to bring meals and celebrate every occasion we can with her. Tina’s mother and father live less than two hours away. She and her mom are best of friends and try to get together as much as possible, whether continuing traditions, antique shopping, or just meeting for lunch. Tina’s twin brother lives about an hour away with his wife and son, who we absolutely love to pieces! Some of our favorite traditions are going to the apple orchard (where Tina has gone since she was a little girl), hiking through the bluebells in Spring, having S’mores by the firepit in the backyard, carving pumpkins, and baking Christmas cookies.
Our Home
We have a three-bedroom home in a lovely suburban neighborhood. Jay bought the home in 2015 and we have spent a good deal of time and effort updating it. We have a spacious backyard, good for outdoor activities. Jay spends quite a bit of time in the garage lifting weights while Tina spends her free time gardening. On hot Summer days, we'll all take a swim in the indoor pool, which stays warm almost year-round. At night, we gather in the basement to watch movies or outside around the fire-pit making s'mores. Julia has a Boston Terrier named Betty Boop who loves chasing the ball, soaking up the sun and cuddling with everyone. In 2024, we welcomed puppies Rocky and Willow to our family. They have quickly settled in! They love wrestling with each other, belly rubs, and cuddle time. All our dogs are great with other animals and children.
Our Journey to Adoption
We have tried to have children for over five years. When traditional methods didn’t work, we spent many years working with fertility clinics. We tragically suffered several miscarriages and a stillbirth. It was a heart-wrenching loss that will always be with us. We’ve been handed our share of defeats, but we’re undeterred in building a family together. We’re equally excited for the opportunity that adoption provides us to bring a child into our home which we otherwise may not have had. We love the prospect of providing a child the love and guidance that will sustain them throughout the course of their lives.
