Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

What a difficult letter this is to write but nowhere near as difficult as the decision you are considering. We want you to know, if you choose us, you will be completing our family. For that, all we can say is thank you; thank you for considering giving us the opportunity to love another child. As part of our family, your baby would be met with such love and devotion. They would also be met with the sweetest older brother to grow with.

Please know any child who joins our lives will be raised with core values of love, compassion for all, and caring for others. We are a family that believes laughter, self-expression, and understanding should be the cornerstones of any relationship.

The decision in front of you seems like a very large mountain to climb with so many wonderful families to pick from. Witnessing the amazingly beautiful connection between two families that adoption creates firsthand with many family members and friends also choosing this path is incredible. If you do decide to bless us with your child, they will know nothing but love, safety, humor, and warmth with us. Without someone like you, our family will never feel fully complete, and we are forever grateful that a wonderful person like you has chosen this path.

Our Story

Hi, we’re Tim and Paula. Tim works as a product manager in a research and development department. He really enjoys making people laugh, especially kids! When he has time, his favorite pastimes are watching sports (either on TV or in person), playing video games, and, most of all, playing with our son or our pets. Paula works remotely as a student advisor for a university in Vermont. She loves crafting, being outdoors, and photography. Most days are spent reading, dancing, playing, singing, and learning ASL together in between work calls. We also break up the week by doing several of our son’s favorite activities: gymnastics, swimming, the local library’s kids activity hour, trips to the park, and Saturday breakfast trips to our favorite restaurant. On days we can’t go outside to play, we enjoy baking, painting, and sensory bins.

 Our Extended Family

Paula: Growing up in a very close extended family, we made sure we gathered any chance we could get—birthday parties, holidays—and that is a tradition we have continued well into our adulthood. I grew up the youngest of three sisters, and although we now live states apart, we make sure to meet at least once a month either for long weekend visits between homes or meeting halfway at a national park. We also live very close to my parents (less than a ten-minute drive), so grandparent time happens often!

Tim: I have an older brother who has a son and daughter. Although they live in Florida, we try to get together once a year. Locally, I have a cousin I remain very close to, and he has a newborn baby girl and a four-year-old son. We often talk about our kids growing up together. My aunt started a nice tradition a couple years ago of getting together in the fall at a local amusement location so we can all make sure to carve out some time to be together. In addition to the family gatherings, about ten years ago, Paula and I started doing a Disney trip at least once every other year.

 Our Home

We live in a small rural town in Pennsylvania. It’s the perfect mixture of country living but close enough to large cities to experience the culture. Our house sits on a little less than two acres, where our rescued pets (which include dogs, cats, and cockatiels as well as our “outside pets” of chickens and bees) and we have plenty of space to run, play, and garden. We also have season passes to the local amusement farm, so from summer through winter, we spend most weekends enjoying the different festivals, picking seasonal vegetables and fruits, or enjoying the holiday light shows.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We have been together since 2001, and we always knew we wanted a family but didn’t believe a biological one was possible. By some miracle, we were blessed with our son in 2021 after years of trying. After he was born, we knew we would like at least one more child but were unable to maintain pregnancy. Following two miscarriages, we decided we should revisit our original plan for growing our family and couldn’t be more excited to welcome a new baby into our lives.
