Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for being such a courageous woman who is bringing an amazing life into the world and is willing to share your love. Considering an adoption plan might be one of the hardest decisions in your life. Being adoptive parents, we do not mean to compete with you. Rather, we believe the adoptive baby is our loved one who was not born from our bodies but from our hearts.

As an immigrant family, we understand that life can be challenging, but we are committed to protecting and loving our children unconditionally. They will be raised with the knowledge of how brave and selfless you were during this emotionally difficult time in your life. Our goal is to give them an excellent education, a safe and loving home full of joy, and endless opportunities to discover and cultivate their talents. We all believe they have a special destiny to fulfill and will bring happiness to the community, the world, and other people; we believe it is our honor to support them as they embark on their amazing journeys.

In addition to all this, we hope both your experiences and ours in overcoming difficulties can inspire our children to fearlessly pursue their dreams. We are grateful for the opportunity to be considered as adoptive parents, and we promise to cherish, support, and love our children with all our hearts.

With gratitude,
James & Penny

Our Story

We are truly lucky to have a wonderful life as a family. Penny is a literature professor who inspires her students with her knowledge and creativity; James is a software engineer who uses his logical thinking and innovative skills to solve problems. We both love watching movies, reading books, and going to the theater. Our daughter, Lilac, adds more fun and variety to our family. She loves gymnastics and dance and expresses herself with grace and confidence. She cannot wait to welcome siblings into our loving home. We like having parties and playdates for Lilac and her friends. As a family, we love sharing funny stories at dinner and reading books together before bed. In the winter, we enjoy playing board games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and ice skating. In the summer, we love swimming, having barbecues, and going on outdoor adventures.

 Our Extended Family

While most of our extended family members are in Taiwan, they visit us constantly. Penny and her sister are twins. Her mother is a retired English teacher, while her father is a retired banker. James is an only child, and both of his parents are retired leaders from prominent companies in Taiwan. James’s parents played a vital role in caring for Lilac when she was a baby and toddler.

In the past season, our family members traveled long distances to Utah to celebrate Lilac’s birthday and showed their support for Lilac's gymnastics and dance competitions. We feel very blessed to be able to cheer for our beloved little girl in places both nearby and far away while surrounded by our loved ones!

We also consider our dearest friends to be integral members of our family, and we are grateful to have many of them living nearby. We take turns looking after the children on weekends and provide homeschooling during summer vacations. The joy of our family growing is shared by all, and it brings us even closer together!

 Our Home

We live in a lovely circle neighborhood near the library, schools, and parks. Our neighbors are very kind and supportive. We often hang out for summer barbecues, firework shows, and gatherings. They graciously care for our beloved cat, Mei-mei, when we travel, and we also help them with their dogs when they are away. The area is green, serene, connected, and welcoming for kids. Our cozy house has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a wall for showing our artwork. Mei-mei loves to play in our full-fenced backyard. He is a clever, fluffy, handsome ten-year-old cat who has been with us through moves from Indiana to Wisconsin, Illinois, and finally Utah. He is not just a pet but a beloved family member; he even has his own spot at our dining table!

 Our Journey to Adoption

After Lilac’s birth, we tried to have more children. However, we have encountered numerous challenges, including a heartbreaking experience of a miscarriage with twins. Despite the weight of this loss, we believe adoption is not about replacing the spirits we lost but rather bridging our love to a hopeful future filled with possibilities. For us, family goes beyond mere biology; it is a bond founded on love, support, and being there for one another unconditionally, no matter what life throws our way. Our desire to give love has led to our decision to adopt babies and provide them with a nurturing and caring home where they can grow and thrive.
