Dear Birthmom

We are grateful you are taking the time to get to know us. We respect and admire your strength, courage, and selfless love as you consider adoption for your baby. We hope our profile will help you in your search for a loving family and happy home.

We are committed to serving the best interests of your child. We believe in the importance of family, security, and stability. We are devoted to unconditional love, nurturing support, encouragement, kindness, respect, education, spiritual development, happiness, and laughter. We will ensure that a child in our family has a wide variety of experiences that are fun, educational, and nurturing, recognizing that every child is unique and has different needs and interests.

We are committed to an open adoption and making your story part of your child’s life. We believe in providing a connection to his or her biological family. (With the adoption of our daughter, Lillian, we have seen firsthand the benefits and blessings of an open adoption.) Your child will know his or her adoption story: the love with which you brought him or her into this world and the wonderful way we became a family.

Thank you for reading our story.

Our Story

Our story began more than 13 years ago, when we were both temporarily living and working in Singapore. We became best friends and fell in love. David is an avid reader, but he also likes to jog, ski, garden, travel, cook, watch movies, spend time with family, go to church, and watch House Hunters. David is an attorney who has worked in the private and public sectors.
Ruben loves to experiment with new recipes, try new restaurants, and explore the world. Ruben is currently a stay-at-home father. Before that, he was a public relations executive. In 2020 the love in our home and in our hearts grew even bigger with the adoption of our daughter, Lillian. Together we enjoy reading, singing, dancing, playing, tickling, laughing, and snuggling.

 Our Extended Family

David grew up in a loving, close-knit family of four, with one older sister, in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama. David has fond memories of a happy childhood. He loved vacationing on the Gulf Coast and spending time at the beach building sandcastles and eating boiled shrimp. David’s parents and sister live a short drive away in Alabama. David also has many extended family members throughout the South whom he sees regularly.

Ruben was born and raised in San Jose, California, along with an older sister. His family of four was very close and shared the events of the day around the dinner table each night. Ruben is blessed with a large—and loud!—extended Filipino family: He has 47 first cousins. Fond memories include big Christmas celebrations, cross-country road trips, camping adventures, and home-cooked family feasts.

 Our Home

We live in Nashville, Tennessee, in a neighborhood that is peaceful, beautiful, and safe. Friendly waves, strollers, and dogs are all common sights. We live in a four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home that sits on more than an acre. We have a spacious, fenced-in backyard with grass, flowers, large trees, and a gazebo. We enjoy our many wildlife visitors, including deer, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and birds. Nearby are hiking trails, bike trails, playgrounds, parks, and botanical gardens. We’re just minutes away from a variety of shops, grocery stores, farmers markets, and restaurants. Some of the best private schools in the state are located nearby. Our family includes our miniature poodle, Bella, who loves a good tummy rub and long walks around the neighborhood.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We decided to adopt to share with a child the joy and love we built in our relationship. In 2020 we were blessed to be matched after waiting for two years. After speaking with an expectant mother and father, we were informed the next morning we had been chosen…and that she was already in labor! We brought Lillian home from the hospital when she was one day old and quickly fell in love with her. Nurturing a child has been the most important endeavor of our lives. We have learned so much and loved so much. We want to expand our family and share all we have to offer with another child. And we know 3-year-old Lillian will make a fantastic big sister!
