Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mom,

We write this letter with a joy in our hearts that only comes from hope. This process will hopefully end with us growing our family by ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes. That growth is only because of the decision an expecting mother makes; one so difficult we cannot begin to comprehend it. We cannot imagine the process from your end as we will never have this decision to make. We respect you immensely and know this is an extremely difficult decision in your life.

Should you choose us, we promise to raise your child to be a good person, one who makes the world a better place. We promise to raise this child knowing his mother made the decision that let us do this. Should you bless us by making us fathers, we will love, cherish, support, and provide for your precious one every minute of every day. We further promise to work with you to determine what is best for a communication plan after placement so that you receive regular updates, especially of important milestones.

We sincerely wish you the best in whatever you decide is right for your baby. While we hope that is us, that is purely because our hearts are open and ready to take this step.

Cheerfully,
Chris and Frankie

Our Story

Being present, loving unconditionally, and focusing on gratitude describe those things that we live by on a daily basis. We serve as a reminder to one another that we are so lucky to be living this life. We love to travel and explore new and old places, but also enjoy being home especially with the seasonal changes in New England. Summer days are often spent in our pool and wintertime is spent cuddling by the fire (when our dog isn’t making puppy snow angels). Chris’ hobbies include making pottery and all aspects of cooking. Frankie’s hobbies are reading, learning to play the violin, and all things Titanic. We value time in nature and camp once a year, usually in Vermont, where Chris shows Frankie everything he learned in Scouts. We’ve always described our activities as shenanigans, and we celebrate Shenanigans Day every year on the anniversary of our first date.

 Our Extended Family

We are big on traditions, and bigger on family which includes Chris’ mom and Frankie’s dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that have become family along the way.

We began hosting Friendsgiving when we lived in Syracuse with Chris’ college roommate. As our friends and chosen family group has grown over the years, our Friendsgiving dinner is now capped at the amount of space we have as we rearrange the first floor of the house to accommodate a wall-to-wall table. We do all the cooking, including enough food for everyone to get leftovers. Frankie’s aunt attended one year and declared it her best holiday experience ever: a place where all are welcomed and loved. We recently learned that the Saturday before Thanksgiving is also National Adoption Day and are excited to share this day with those that we love and cherish.

Another favorite tradition as a couple has been cutting down our Christmas tree each year, even Wexford joins in the process. Somehow we keep picking out a bigger tree each year, yet our living room stays the same size!

 Our Home

After growing up in upstate New York, we relocated together to Connecticut and love the proximity to Boston, NYC and Vermont. Our home is tucked into a state forest with miles of walking trails in our backyard. We share our home with our dog Wexford, and 2 cats, Kiki and Winnie. We’re walking distance to schools, parks, and most importantly ice cream. Our neighbors introduced us to the annual summer concert series as well as the holiday fire truck parade hosted by our town. They are wonderfully supportive of our adoption journey and eagerly await another wee one in the neighborhood to participate in holiday parades, including Halloween. We’re the house that gives out full sized candy bars.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We began discussing kids back in 2016 after two years of dating. We have always known that being dads was an important part of our journey together. We feel strongly about starting our family through adoption, especially since Frankie was adopted by his grandparents and his biological mother grew up in foster care. Our future child(ren) are a part of our daily conversations, mostly around our goal of providing a loving and nurturing environment as we have the honor of raising another human being! When we bought our home in 2018, we did so with the idea of finding a home where we could see ourselves settling down and raising our family. We are so very ready for that next step.
