Dear Birthmom

We want to let you know how thankful we are that you are considering us as adoptive parents. We are grateful for the opportunity to become dads. We have known we wanted children since we first fell in love, and as our relationship grew, we knew we had even more love to share with a child. Please know that if you choose us, your child will receive so much love, not just from us but our entire family.

We look forward to sharing our lives with your child and helping them to grow. We will make sure they know they are loved and supported as well as let them know their future is whatever they want to make it. We want to share the joys of our traditions and celebrations. We cannot wait to be there for the small moments as well as the big ones. We are ecstatic at the opportunity that you would be giving us to share all of this.

We know considering an adoption plan and a family to love, raise, and cherish your precious baby is a hard choice and that you have many to choose from. The choice you are making is not one that is taken lightly, and we know you are making one that has the love, protection, and care of your child in mind. You are looking for what is best for your baby. We look forward to talking and sharing more about us with you and answering any questions.

Our Story

We met in 2017 and have been together ever since. We dated for over a year before getting engaged and then married six months later. Derek works for a Texas-based grocery store as the service director there. He oversees the front end and is in charge of the cashiers and service managers. Skyler is in education and taught in an elementary classroom for five years; he is now a digital learning and assessment coordinator for the school he taught at. We are both very caring and loving. We enjoy spending time with each other and our families, traveling, playing games, trying new restaurants, and watching movies and TV together. Every evening after we get home from work, Skyler cooks dinner and we eat together and relax as we share how our day was.

 Our Extended Family

Derek has a sister, half-sister, and stepsister and is very close to all of them. We see them for holidays and birthdays and throughout the year. His sister and her husband have two toddler boys; his stepsister and her husband have an eight-year-old son and two-year-old daughter. We enjoy spending time with them every chance we get. Skyler has one brother and six cousins he is close with and we see often. We love to have cookouts and spend time catching up with our families. We strive to be there for all life events.

Our traditions include two Thanksgivings; we spend the beginning of the day at Derek’s dad and stepmom’s, where we see all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, and two sisters and their children. At the end of the day, we go to Skyler’s grandparents’ house, where we see his aunts, uncles, and cousins too. We spend Christmas Eve at Derek’s mom and stepdad’s spending time with them, his sister, her children, and his half-sister. On Christmas, we spend time with Skyler’s grandparents and aunts, uncles, and cousins. After Christmas, we have a tradition of either traveling to see Skyler’s parents and brother or them traveling to us.

 Our Home

We recently bought a brand new home summer of 2023. It is a three-bedroom home with a study. We have two dogs in our home: a miniature yorkie her name is Ella and terrier his name is Jett. The dogs are loving and friendly. They love being pet, getting their belly rubbed, and given attention. Both dogs are great with kids. They love our nieces and nephews. We live in a new and growing subdivision with many young families. Our community is not too far outside a metropolitan area in Texas. Our subdivision has several little park’s and a splash pad for children.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We knew we wanted to raise a child together from early on in our relationship and both always knew we wanted children. We have been a part of our nephews and niece’s lives from the beginning, and it made us realize we are ready to share our love and expand our family. Due to us not being able to have children on our own, we looked into fostering and adoption. Eventually, though, we realized adoption was for us. We can’t wait for all the big and small events in the child's life from the beginning.
