Dear Birthmom

Thank you for looking at our profile. We’ve been thinking about you a lot, even though we haven’t met yet and want you to know that the decision you’re making comes from a place of love, courage, and deep care for your child. We can only imagine how heavy and complicated this moment must feel.

Thank you for considering us with something so precious. Your child would always know that they were loved from the very beginning. In our home, they will grow up surrounded by warmth, patience, laughter, and endless support. I promise to honor their story, including the part that begins with you. You are an important part of their life and always will be and will do everything we can to help them understand how much love brought them into this world and into our family.

Whatever you are feeling right now—sadness, hope, uncertainty, strength—it is all valid. Please know that your love for your child is seen, and it matters deeply.

We would consider it a true gift if you entrusted us with their future. We will spend our lives being the very best parents that your child deserves.

Our Story

We met when Ruben was asked to do work in the house next door. At that time Heidi worked at night and they started to talk when she was coming into work. Our first date was in a Japanese restaurant. We talked for hours! We eventually fell in love and bought our first home. I love that Ruben is conscientious and is a hard worker. He’s incredibly sweet at heart. Ruben is the classic guy who says he doesn’t want pets, yet ends up loving them the most—often sneaking them treats they probably shouldn’t have. Ruben loves that Heidi also works hard and is just as caring. Heidi is also the caregiver and always tries to help friends or family.

We have been married for almost 12 years. We both grew up very differently but fit together.

 Our Extended Family

Family is the heart of our culture and the center of our lives. We were raised to value love, respect, and supporting one another. We are both immigrants and love the places and traditions that we come from. Ruben is from Honduras and Heidi is from the Dominican Republic. Many of our traditions are based on spending time with family and eating. Heidi loves Thanksgiving and Christmas and insists on a real tree and we go to the tree farm to get it every year. Ruben loves summer, we usually grill outside and we sometimes rent a boat to go around the bay.We believe in teaching kindness, strong values, and pride in our culture while creating a warm and welcoming home. It would be a true blessing to welcome a child into our family, share our traditions, and raise them in an environment where they will always feel safe, supported, and deeply loved.

 Our Home

We live in Rhode Island in a 3 bedroom home that is in the middle of a small city in a quiet neighborhood. The house is actually next to a playground. We have a large back deck and a fenced yard. We have a couple of hammocks that we relax in and our dog Cookie likes to run around. We also have 3 cats. We are very close to lots of activities and 20 minutes from the beach. The city is very diverse and has lots of different people from different countries and cultures.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We are both immigrants to the US and mainly speak Spanish at home.

Heidi is from the Dominican Republic and has a large family there. We visit the DR yearly and often take driving vacations and rent a house for a few of us to spend time in different parts of the country. Ruben is from Honduras and also visits there regularly. He has a farm there that he enjoys spending time in
