Dear Birthmom

We have struggled with finding the words to express our emotions in this moment. We have not walked in your shoes but offer you our respect, support, and compassion as you make the best decision for your child. Different paths led us here, but we believe we are all striving towards a precious, shared hope – hope that your child has a great life in a stable, loving home.

We promise to provide a home where they feel loved and cherished every day. A home with a fun-loving dad who gives the best hugs and never fails to fill it with smiles, laughter, and adventure. A home with a fiercely intelligent mom who loves with every ounce of her heart and has an unlimited capacity for kindness that affects everyone she encounters. A home in two active families full of cheerleaders, fellow mischief makers, and bookworms. A home where kindness, hard work, and education are valued. A home where both successes and failures are celebrated. A home in a community of people who will teach, guide, and support your child through the ups and downs of life. A home with an open door for you and your family as you choose.

We would be humbled and eternally grateful if you chose our home for your child and promise to dedicate our lives to ensuring our shared hope comes true.

With hope,
Steven and Lori

Our Story

We met by chance on a hot summer day in 2014 when we both subbed on the same kickball team for the end of season tournament. After much maneuvering and precisely according to his plan, Steven eventually convinced Lori to ask him out to a local food truck festival for our first of many dates. We have a shared love of a good wager, which has led to numerous adventures including pies to the face, shaved legs, and countless hours spent in funny costumes in public. Through the years, we continue competing and meeting new friends, creating a supportive, caring community of wonderful people who bring such joy, love, and fun to our lives. They, along with our families, helped celebrate our wedding in 2018 which is also when we bought our home. The foundation of our home is “love and shenanigans”, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this same strong foundation with a little one.

 Our Extended Family

Even though we live in Oklahoma, we think we’re more than OK. Our families are a combination of love and chaos - with no shortage of support, encouragement, and entertainment. Steven’s parents as well as his sister, brother-in-law and our two nieces live in California, but we exchange visits several times a year. Steven’s favorite family tradition is the annual Christmas Light Party in which they hang tens of thousands of lights and his mom cooks large batches of gumbo. Steven’s aunt and cousin live nearby with a plethora of farm animals. Lori’s parents and three siblings with their families live a few hours away along with her grandpa and innumerable extended family. We frequently get together for holidays, school events, and other family outings with mandatory Mexican train dominoes. Over the years, we’ve built a third family of our dear friends who we see weekly for sports and other activities, including our annual chili cookoff.

 Our Home

From the first moment, we loved our three-bedroom home in a safe neighborhood with big trees and several parks nearby. It has a big backyard with lots of room to grow and run and plenty of neighborhood kids to play with. We’ve spent years exploring the city with our nieces and nephew - discovering the best splash grounds, museums, parks, zoo and aquariums, festivals and cannot wait to continue the adventures. With family nearby living on farms and ranches, there is plenty of interaction with animals and rural life.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We are always up for an adventure - be it big or small. We are frequently drawn outdoors and love to explore across the USA and internationally through hiking, camping, and sight-seeing. Some of our favorite spots include the waterfalls in Iceland, the Beehive Trail in Maine, and Angel’s Landing in Zion. Equally cherished are the small adventures we share together such as cuddling on the couch with a new movie, taking walks through the neighborhood, betting on who will win the March Madness bracket, or discussing the plot of a new book series. Steven’s family loves the big adventures and Lori’s family savors the small moments and incorporating both has led us to a happy life.
