Dear Birthmom
Dear Birthmom
Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you for taking a moment to get to know our family. We can only imagine the strength it takes to make decisions during a time that may feel overwhelming, and we want you to know how deeply we respect you, your story, and your hopes for your child. We come to adoption with full hearts—shaped by joy, by loss, and by the belief that love grows through connection. Our family includes one wonderful living child, Cade, and we also carry the memory of our son Avery with us each day. His life has given us a deeper appreciation for the gift of parenthood and the responsibility of caring for a child with intention, steadiness, and compassion.
Both of us are former teachers, and Nathan still works in education today. We believe strongly in creating a home where curiosity is encouraged, feelings are welcomed, and a child knows they are safe, supported, and celebrated for exactly who they are. Our life is full of laughter, community, and simple moments—Saturday morning pancakes, backyard dance parties, and a circle of family and friends who show up for one another.
If you choose us, your child will always know their story began with your courage and love. We are committed to honoring whatever level of openness feels right for you and ensuring your child grows up knowing where they come from and who they come from.
With care and respect,
Samantha & Nathan

Our Story
Our lifestyle is grounded in connection, consistency, and making space for joy in the everyday. With one energetic little boy at home, our days are full of play, learning, and small adventures—exploring new parks, going on neighborhood walks, and finding kid-friendly activities wherever we can. We love creating an environment where a child can be both curious and comforted, knowing they are fully supported as they grow.
Community is at the center of our life. Samantha is a founding leader of an all-adult, all-volunteer cheerleading team that performs at community events, especially in support of the queer community. Nathan plays percussion with a local community symphony, which brings music into our home in such a natural, joyful way. We show up for the people around us, and we love raising our family in spaces that value authenticity and belonging.
At home, things are simple: cozy evenings, favorite shows, backyard playtime, and a lot of laughter. Our hope is to raise a child in a home where they feel safe, celebrated, and surrounded by love.

Our Extended Family
We are surrounded by a strong circle of family and friends who bring warmth, stability, and joy into our lives. Samantha’s family is rooted in education, with many teachers who value curiosity and kindness, and Nathan’s family is close-knit and deeply supportive. We stay closely connected with our relatives in North Carolina and the Chicagoland area, and even though distance separates us, frequent calls, visits, and shared traditions keep us woven together.
Here in Arizona, we’ve built a chosen family that is wonderfully diverse—friends from many cultural, ethnic, and life backgrounds who enrich our everyday world. They bring different traditions, foods, perspectives, and experiences that we feel grateful to learn from, and their presence makes our community feel vibrant and deeply welcoming. Many of them are parents, and their children are important playmates and companions to our son.
Our support system reflects what we value most: inclusion, belonging, and a community where every child is celebrated for exactly who they are.

Our Home
We live in a beautiful area of Arizona, surrounded by mountain views and citrus orchards. Our one-story home has a fenced swimming pool and a park directly across the street with a basketball court that Nathan and our son use often. We recently added a Little Free Library to our front yard, which has quickly become a favorite for neighborhood kids. Mesa offers so much for families—splash pads, indoor playgrounds, kid-friendly museums, and a wonderful downtown library where we go to story time. Our neighborhood is walkable and filled with friends, including a close family with Colombian roots who add richness to our community. We’re also in a great school district with a nearby elementary school that offers a Spanish immersion program!
Our Journey to Adoption
What we love most about each other is the balance we create as a team. Samantha admires Nathan’s calm presence, his patient heart, and the way he lights up when teaching or playing with children. He has a steady kindness that makes everyone feel seen and valued. Nathan loves Samantha’s energy, her deep compassion, and the way she brings people together with humor, warmth, and authenticity. She leads with love and shows up for others in exceptional ways.
Together, we’ve built a partnership grounded in communication, shared values, and the joy of raising our family as part of a community we care deeply about. We’re stronger because of each other, and we’re excited to grow that love even more.
