Dear Birthmom

Dear Birthmother,

We find it hard to know how to begin a letter to you, knowing you must be going through a hard time. We have been married almost 4 years and have not been able to conceive. We knew the day we got married that some day we would love to raise a family. We both love children, and have strong longings to parent with hearts of love. We've had to work through the grief of infertility, but through this, God has laid on our hearts a love for the miracle of adoption and we definitely do not consider it second best but much more an amazing blessing and privilege.

We are committed to giving your baby a loving and secure environment where he/she will always know they are treasured and deeply loved. We assure you that we will make sure your child is always well cared for and that he/she will always have a safe place to go to. We would be honored and humbled to parent your child through the gift of adoption, should you choose us to. We count you as a dear friend and admire you for your decision, even amidst the turmoil of emotion in your heart.

Our Story

One hobby grown into a small business right on our property is our greenhouse. We love all things plants, from flowers to vegetables to herbs. In the greenhouse we grow all three and sell to the public. Our love in the greenhouse is the hanging baskets and planters we put together. We love using creative pots like old wheelbarrows and galvanized tubs. Green and growing little plants excite us.

Another passion is children and school. Jacob taught school at our private church school for 7 years. Although he is no longer in the classroom, school and reaching out to his students is still his passion.

We also love singing and music. Singing acapella, in four part harmony, was something Jacob did a lot with his students. Just the two of us love to sing together although with two we don't create four part harmony. We dream of having a little choir of our own family some day.

 Our Extended Family

We both grew up in large families and they are an important part of our life. Hannah has eight siblings, four brothers and four sisters. Hannah's siblings still all live at home with her parents on the family farm about 15 minutes from our house. Farming animals is their love. Hannah's Dad also owns a roofing business. They love celebrating birthdays together and making Mother's Day and Father's Day special. Spending a summer vacation in nature is something Hannah's family enjoys. It could be a day on the river or a campout.

Jacob grew up with 7 sisters and 1 brother. Jacob likes to say that's why he is bald. Growing up, his sisters were so hard on him! One of Jacob's love languages for his sisters is teasing. Jacob's family is scattered with most of them grown. His parents live in Illinois and own a bakery. Jacob's family loves spending time together, usually getting together once a year for a couple days of family time. In the bunch there are 6 nieces and 3 nephews. Everyone loves the little ones and they always get spoiled when the family is together.

 Our Home

We live in the rolling hills of rural Missouri, just up the drive from the Mennonite church and school we are a part of. Our home is a well maintained 3 bedroom, one level structure home. Jacob built a lovely deck out from our back patio door complete with a pergola on top. Hannah loves to decorate the porch with flowers during the summer and we feed many birds on the porch during the winter. We have 20 acres and enjoy owning 20 goats that we run on our pasture as well as a heifer named Petunia. Our area is home to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. We love spending a summer night at the river for a picnic or spending a day kayaking on the river.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We are active Mennonite Christians, and count it a blessing to be granted the heritage we have. We have been taught the value of strong work ethics, of doing for ourselves all we can, and to look out for the common good of those around us. We believe in closely following the teachings of Jesus as written in the Bible. And desire for all men the peace of a heart right with God.

As a strong Christian community, we look for ways to help out those in need, should it be a day of working together, or giving of what we have personally. Our community is a social group that enjoys spending time with each other, learning to know each other better and helping each other.
