Dear Birthmom

We are Michael and Jessi from Alaska! We sincerely thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We know you have a lot of decisions to make and want to choose the right family for your child. Whether you choose us or another family, we pray you are filled with peace in this journey. We do not know what it’s like to walk in your shoes, but if you do choose us, we would support you with compassion and love.

We met in March 2020 at work and instantly connected over a desire to explore this beautiful state we live in and to serve our country together as well as our shared love of rescuing pets. We believe God led us to each other by bringing us to Alaska at the same time in June 2017 and placing us five feet from each other at work. We are opposites yet very alike at the same time. We balance each other well and truly enjoy being each other’s best friend. Some of our favorite moments have been traveling together, spending time with extended family, and introducing our adopted one-year old son to all the things we love about Alaska. Our love for each other overflows to our son Noah and we are excited at the thought of loving another child! We have worked hard to ensure we are mentally, physically, and spiritually ready for this commitment and know the perfect time is now to do this process again.

Our Story

We love trying new things as a family, and one of our favorite recent adventures has been learning to cross-country ski. Stepping out of our comfort zone turned into a hobby we now look forward to every winter, and once Noah arrived, we couldn’t wait to bundle him up and bring him along. Our two huskies are always eager to join us, natural “pullers” who happily lead the way on every trail and outdoor outing.

Our faith plays a central role in our lives and has strengthened both our marriage and our journey into parenthood. We’re looking forward to joining a Bible study with other families this year to continue growing in the community. Fitness is also important to us, so we transformed our garage into a home gym where we can stay active together. At home, Michael has a passion for cooking, especially baking bread and making the perfect steak. We hope our children grow up sharing his love for good food and creativity in the kitchen.

 Our Extended Family

Michael’s family is rooted in a small town in Colorado, where his parents, younger sister, nephew, and grandparents all live within a short distance of one another. He grew up raising cattle on the family ranch, where he developed the strong work ethic and handyman skills that still define him today.

Jessi’s family is primarily based in Alaska after she spent her childhood in Oregon with three older brothers. Her parents, along with one brother, his wife, and their two children, live about 45 minutes away. Jessi was raised to be respectful, hardworking, and grateful for the life God provides—values we hope to pass down to our children.

Family is incredibly important to us. We want our children to know their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and we are confident our families will always make the effort to stay present and involved.
We are also surrounded by a strong community of friends, many of whom are military families. Most recently, our neighbors became an invaluable support system for Jessi while Michael was deployed. We hope our home continues to be a place where our children see generosity in action and where anyone in need of friendship or a warm meal is always welcome.

 Our Home

We moved into a brand-new home in 2023 to be closer to work, and we quickly fell in love with the 360-degree mountain views. Our mornings often start with coffee on the couch, watching the sunrise while Noah plays nearby. The backyard is spacious for our dogs, and we even get the occasional wildlife visitor in the front yard. Our neighborhood is warm and welcoming, with families, young children, and retired couples who make it feel like home.

Jessi joined a neighborhood book club and has loved building friendships there. The community often gathers for holidays and special occasions, which feels rare and special. Our home has plenty of room to grow, and we’re excited for the opportunity to welcome more children into it.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We knew early in our relationship that adoption would someday be part of our story, even though we didn’t yet know when or how it would happen. After four years of trying to grow our family and experiencing multiple miscarriages, we leaned on close friends who adopted through Angel. Their experience, along with our own research, led us to begin our first adoption journey in 2024. Noah’s birthmother is the reason we became parents, and we are endlessly grateful for her courage and love. Noah is truly a miracle.

Over the past year, we’ve focused on giving him the best start possible while also feeling our hearts open to growing our family again. We know adoption is the right path for us, and we believe we can offer a loving, stable home to another child.
