Dear Birthmom

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our words. We can only imagine the strength and love it takes to consider this decision for your baby's future. Please know that we see you, and we're holding you and your little one in our hearts as you navigate this journey.

Adoption is something we've both been passionate about for a long time. Each of us has adopted brothers, so adoption has always been part of our lives and our vision for building a family. This is not a second choice for us; it's a deeply hopeful and intentional one.

We have so much love to give, adventures to share, and traditions to create. The idea that someone as strong and loving as you might consider us to raise your child is something we would forever cherish. If we're chosen, your child will grow up knowing just how loved they are, not only by us, but by you, and by the deep courage and care that brought them into our lives. Our home is filled with laughter, magic, storybooks, Spanish, snuggles, Jesus, play, and support: a place where a child can grow into exactly who they are meant to be.

Thank you for considering us. No matter where this journey takes you, we are praying for peace, clarity, and strength for you and your baby.

With love,
Rhett & Laney

Our Story

We've been married for six years! We met in college on a mission trip to Mexico, reconnected years later in Oregon after living in different countries (Laney in Nicaragua, Rhett in Italy). We're best friends who cheer each other on. Rhett works in digital marketing at a sportswear company, and Laney is a college program director. Weeknights mean Dungeons & Dragons, intramural softball, and playing with our dog, Hazel. Weekends bring Oregon Coast day trips, zoo visits to see baby elephant Tula-Tu, and backyard grilling. Rhett volunteers as a high school youth leader at church, while Laney connects with her faith through advocacy for justice-focused nonprofits. Our traditions include finding the silliest pumpkin in the fall, watching How to Train Your Dragon on Christmas, making Hazel a potato cake for her birthday, and Disneyland trips! We imagine raising a child with balance: play and rest, creativity and learning, adventure and home.

 Our Extended Family

We're surrounded by an amazing village of supportive family and friends who can't wait to welcome a child into our lives. Rhett's family lives a two-hour drive from us in Oregon and includes his adopted brothers, loving parents, and tons of cousins, and we gather often to cook, laugh, and celebrate Mexican traditions like homemade tortillas and Christmas meals. Laney's family lives nearby and includes her adopted brother, wonderful parents, and a big extended family we see regularly for themed holiday dinners and Disneyland trips. We also have a close-knit group of friends with young kids, many of whom we're godparents to. We spend weekends playing board games, babysitting, or exploring Oregon together. Your child would be raised in a world full of joy, support, and unconditional love.

 Our Home

We live in a warm, welcoming home in Oregon, and our backyard opens to a renowned community park, walking trails, and a public library. We're in a diverse, family-friendly neighborhood with access to a bilingual Spanish immersion school system from kindergarten through high school, something we specifically sought out. Our home is full of books, board games, and the gentle energy of our three-legged dog, Hazel. We love walking to the local farmers market or stopping by the nearby M&M Mexican Market for pan dulce and Spanish practice. We've created a home where your child will feel safe, celebrated, and surrounded by culture, creativity, and care.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We’re both passionate about Latino culture and committed to honoring it in our home. Laney, though white, fell in love with the Spanish language in high school and went on to study abroad in Mexico and teach in Nicaragua. She wishes she’d been raised bilingual and is passionate about providing that opportunity to our child. Rhett’s dad is Mexican, and while Rhett wasn’t raised speaking Spanish, he’s now proudly reconnecting with his heritage, learning the language, joining a Latino network at his work, and perfecting his Tía’s tortilla recipe. Every year, we host a Día de los Muertos celebration with both sides of our family to honor loved ones through food, storytelling, and remembrance. We are excited to incorporate your child’s heritage into our family traditions and celebrate what makes them beautifully unique.
