Dear Birthmom

As gay people, we aren’t able to have biological children; however, that doesn’t mean we won’t be amazing parents. Of course, we wouldn’t be able to do this without the sacrifice of a loving mother. We are excited to be considered and hope you know we will love, care, and support your child while providing a perfect environment that gives empowerment.

Mitch comes from a traditional American background: Thanksgiving with turkey, stuffing, gravy, and mashed potatoes as holiday decor is carefully placed throughout the house and music plays in the background. Christmas is filled with gifts, and stories of Mitch as a kid playing with the snow and building snow angels always come up during Christmas dinner conversations. And on the other hand, Benjamin’s Chinese background brings a list of traditional holidays most people aren’t even aware of. New Years in February? You heard it right. But as a Canadian-born Chinese, the kids will also get to celebrate Thanksgiving in October. Chinese culture speaks to how the opposite side of the world lives and celebrates life. But why stop there? Our best friend has welcomed us into his home and his traditional Mexican values with Mexican food, Mexican dance folklore, and traditional celebrations of life’s accomplishments. We truly feel like we are part of three different cultures we can’t wait for our child to be able to partake in.

Our Story

We are an outgoing couple who loves traveling, being with family, and eating different and new foods as well hanging out and working on our home. Mitch is a Senior Manager of Business Development working for a major credit card company. He manages middle market and celebrity accounts. His job entails entertaining clients at dinners and sporting events as well as special events. Benjamin is an entrepreneur. He spent 10 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a project manager in aerospace technology and now is working to create new businesses. He has a vision to change the way landscaping and construction are handled. We met on a vacation and instantly fell in love. Benjamin quit his job two hours outside of Toronto to make the move to CA. We care for and love each other and can’t wait to provide an immense love for a child.

 Our Extended Family

Family is the most important part of our lives. Our families are so excited about us adopting and can’t wait to meet the little baby who will become part of our family. We love hosting our families at our house for large Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas brunch, and summers to spend the Fourth of July at the beach. Benjamin is Chinese-Canadian, and Mitch is Caucasian from the USA. We love to bring our friends into our family as well. We have a best friend who is Mexican, so we incorporate so many traditions in our home.

Mitch's dad loves to fish and frequently enjoys taking the family out on the fishing boat. His parents will be retiring in Florida but expect to spend lots of time at the shared family cabin on the coast of California. Benjamin’s parents were Chinese restaurant owners and love to teach us how to cook traditional Chinese dishes. They love spending the warm months with us in California.

 Our Home

Our home is a haven for expression and a detailed representation of our well-traveled life. Our colorful artwork, created by a friend, combines our appreciation of art with self-expression. Our passion for nature is seen in our multiple fruit trees, ranging from oranges to pomelos. Our favorite place has to be the kitchen. We love cooking and eating together, and we take pride in the healthy steps we take to ensure a healthy future. We love coming home to our two cats and our two mini pigs, who bring us joy and comfort. Neighborhood hikes and walks to nearby shops and restaurants provide time for awareness. And on Friday nights, we are reminded by a nearby high school of the joy of Friday night football.

 Our Journey to Adoption

Mitch's best friend, who is almost like a sister to him, was adopted at the age of three. She was so happy to be adopted and was also able to have an open adoption that allowed her to stay close with her biological grandparents. When we were deciding how we wanted to grow our family, she was such a positive support in our decision to adopt. We are so excited to bring your child into our world and to give him or her an amazing life.
