Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

We understand the decision you will make is perhaps the biggest and most important in your life. Maybe you feel unsure at this moment whether you should raise the baby yourself or have an adoptive parent raise him.

We can’t wait to welcome a new baby into our home and hearts. We look forward to providing unlimited love and care including feeding, playing, bathing, and bedtime stories. Your baby would have its own bedroom where they can dream and create..

We would celebrate birthdays, and special occasions, and be there for them for support in hard times. They would be included in our church activities, where they can form loving relationships with our families and friends. As positive role models we hope to instill into them to grow up to be confident and caring.

We promise to honor your decision on the type of communication you desire and whether or not to tell him your story.

We are grateful to be considered as your child’s adoptive parents. We are committed to helping you emotionally and financially throughout your pregnancy and as you give birth to this new life. We will keep in touch as long as you need us.

With love,
Sally & Terence

Our Story

We met through a dating website online in 2016 and started to talk and chat for about six months before we met each other. We married in the summer of 2017. We have a lot in common, such as personality, religion, and culture. We are optimistic, supportive, generous, and sometimes funny. Terence always says, “You have a contagious laugh that brightens my day,” and Sally responds, “You know how to make everyone feel comfortable with your warm personality.” Sally is a human resource assistant, with her master’s degree in business administration. Terence is a professional banker in retail banking and a voluntary notary public; he has a bachelor’s degree in finance. He likes to serve our community as his daily work. We love traveling, photographing, planting, and decorating our house. Our goal for our family is to grow together and raise children.

 Our Extended Family

Terence’s extended family includes his father, mother, older brother with his wife and their two college-aged children, and older sister, who has two adult daughters; the older daughter married last year, while the younger daughter is living in a group home with roommates and a caregiver. We get together for family dinner on important occasions throughout the year, such as Thanksgiving and Chinese New Year. Our family enjoys trying different foods, mainly authentic Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and American food. We regularly keep in touch with our parents.

Sally has no siblings, and her parents live in China. They just visited us this year and stayed for six months. We traveled together to other states. They like going to church, making friends, and traveling to different places now that they’ve retired. We chat or phone each other, keeping updated on our daily lives.

 Our Home

We own a Cape-style house with two bedrooms, a furnished basement, and good-sized front and back yards with plenty of plants. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. We live by a beautiful lake, where people can fish or boat in the spring and summer. We are a five-minute drive away from the highway and a big shopping plaza. Public transportation and some amenities like a library are within walking distance. The public schools in town are above average, while the higher education in the state is strong, with lots of community colleges and state and private universities. We have a small shih tzu dog named Lucky. Lucky is friendly, healthy, and playful.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We dreamed of having a family with children. Soon after we married, we tried to have a biological child but no luck. Two years ago, we started IVF. After multiple attempts of IVF cycles, Sally was still unable to have a successful pregnancy. We explored the idea of adoption because one of our church friends had adoption experience and their adopted son is 21 years old. They live a very happy and loving life. We have a strong connection with their family and are deeply touched by their story, which led us to our own adoption journey.
