Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We recognize your decision takes courage, and we’re honored you’re considering us.
We met doing theatre in 2015, a passion that fills our lives together. Carlos works in performing arts while Rob works in biotech, and our home reflects the life we’ve built—a baby grand piano for sing-a-longs, a large kitchen to cook and entertain, and a spacious yard perfect for playing. We chose our neighborhood because it’s steps away from excellent schools, as education is deeply important to us.

Family is at the heart of everything we do. Rob’s brother lives down the street with his wife and their nine-year-old son. We share weekly Mexican dinners, cheer at sporting events, and take multiple family vacations. We can already imagine bringing your child into these cherished moments—teaching them to swim at our community pool, exploring mountains and beaches on weekend getaways, and introducing them to the magic of live theatre.

We’re committed to raising your child with the values that guide our lives: hard work, curiosity, and empathy. We’ll nurture whatever interests capture their imagination, even if that’s something we haven’t discovered yet. We’re excited to share our traditions, and we’re equally committed to honoring and celebrating any cultural heritage that’s part of your child’s story.

Your child will grow up knowing they are deeply loved, endlessly supported, and encouraged to become exactly who they’re meant to be.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Rob & Carlos

Our Story

Our love story began in 2015 while working on a production of a musical, an encounter that remedied a missed opportunity to meet the year prior. What started as a collaborative working relationship unfolded into an undeniable connection and a lifetime of teamwork. We’ve seamlessly merged our love for the arts with the intricacies of the sciences and healthcare. Our journey has included the remodeling of our first home, the construction of two subsequent ones, a Master’s degree for Carlos and a PhD for Rob - a testament to our collaborative spirit and unified vision for our life. Continuously inspiring each other’s self-improvement, we embraced a new adventure by relocating to Virginia to be close to family, especially our nine-year-old nephew. This change of scenery proved to be the missing piece, breathing renewed life into our shared dreams and solidifying the reality we’ve tirelessly strived to create for our family.

 Our Extended Family

Our family is quite large with there being four siblings (all partnered), a nephew, three dog ‘cousins’, and three additional cat ‘cousins’ in addition to very engaged parents. Most of those family members reside in Pennsylvania, where we moved from, but we see them multiple times a year for holidays and family gatherings, including an annual summer family vacation.

Rob’s brother, sister-in-law, and nephew live very close to us in Virginia (about a seven-minute drive), and we see each other at least two times a week for family dinners, movie nights, bowling, virtual golf, little league baseball games, and many other activities.

We have a very extensive group of aunts, uncles, and cousins spread out across the East Coast whom we see for big family gatherings when possible and stay very engaged with on social media and various family group chats. Your child would be joining a huge, loud, but deeply loving group of people of all colors, sizes, and backgrounds and would be a very welcome addition to the family.

 Our Home

We live in a five-bedroom, four-bath house in Virginia that sits within a highly ranked school district for our county. In fact, our house is located within walking distance of the elementary, middle, and high schools, which will make it possible for your child to be as involved as they’d like in school activities! Our neighborhood has many children, a community pool, and a playground and is located within 15 minutes of everything you could ever want. Within our home, your little one(s) would have two very sweet cats, Jinx and Franklin, to cuddle up with on those chilly winter nights. They love to play and sleep and can’t resist being held and snuggled.

 Our Journey to Adoption

Carlos loves that Rob is full of adventure. Whether it’s becoming a private pilot, hosting piano parties, traveling the world, or doing home renovation projects, Rob has a way of making everything feel fun and exciting. Carlos also loves that Rob is both the most honest and the most loyal person he has met - when Rob is in your corner he’s there for life.

Rob loves how deeply Carlos feels for things he is passionate about. When Carlos identifies something that’s important - even if it’s not for himself - he will lovingly offer his support along the way. Carlos is a dedicated partner and friend with an infectious laugh and a good attitude, and Rob looks forward to raising a child/ren with someone so loving.
