Dear Birthmom

To the angel reading this, we can’t understand your trials that led to this decision, but we desire to. We hope to support you in ways others haven’t, and give assurance that you’re making the right choice for you, and your child(ren). We are prepared, and excited at the idea of joining our lives in ways that work for all involved. We WILL find ways to show you your value and your contribution to our lives!

We plan to document as many of life’s moments as possible, hoping to share those with you, if you desire. Our devotion to build on the traditions we grew up with, along with creating new rituals and practices, excites us! The magic we will bring to our children stems from our love of each other, our values, a fondness of Disney, and unforgettable holidays and birthdays!

Out of all the people we could have fallen in love with, we found each other; both infertile but desperate to share our love with children (who don’t have fur, though we do love our animals)! We will continue to fill our home with fur babies, assuming the children reciprocate these feelings. Our main objectives, besides unconditional love, is to identify and nurture their passions while keeping them safe as they learn and explore the world around them. We feel because we’ve had the time to prepare to be parents, that we will be better equipped to help your child, our child, through their journey of life.

Our Story

Though we attended the same high school, our paths didn’t cross until our first jobs. Shelby recognized Cameron as a confident and goofy individual who “jokingly” proposed shortly after we started talking, at various work hangouts. What began as work “wifey and hubby” became a reality. We share the same humor, eclectic tastes in music and entertainment, and overall life values. Shelby is extremely crafty and hands-on and isn’t afraid to tackle any project. Shelby currently works as Catering Director at a local restaurant. Cameron lives to create smiles on people’s faces. He has been in the restaurant industry in upper-level management for over 12 years now, and is Director of Operations at the same restaurant. Cameron loves consuming and passionately rooting for our local sports teams on all levels and platforms. We both get a lot of joy from attending concerts, sporting events, and spending time with our animals.

 Our Extended Family

We both have big families. The people most important to Shelby in her family are her mom and her younger brother. Both of her brothers are in long term relationships and her middle brother has a stepson and young daughter of his own. We visit Cameron’s mother and stepfather often for dinner and to allow our dogs to play. Our tight-knit group gets together often for a game night, hangout, dinner, or celebration of sorts; they are right down the street! Though they live out of state, Cameron also values relationships with his father and his brother who is married and has two young boys of his own. We both also have long-term friends since grade school. We value and consider them to be our family as well. Many of them have children and have been a great support system.

Family customs have changed over time, but we are big into celebrating holidays! We love decorating for Halloween, and especially Christmas. As Disney adults, we’re ecstatic for that first visit with our children to experience the “magic” of the parks. We are equally excited for them to experience our extended family and foreign locations.

 Our Home

We live in the same town we both grew up in and live just a few blocks from the high school we both attended. We purchased a home within 20 minutes of the mountains and the city; which allows for a variety of options for entertainment, leisure, and simply soaking up the elements. Our home is full of furry energy. We rescued a cat four years ago and have a brood of three fantastic dogs (a full-size Australian shepherd, a chihuahua mix, and a toy Australian shepherd) with whom we spend much of our free time including relaxing as well as energetic activities. We recently added a fish tank along with snails!

 Our Journey to Adoption

Our desire to adopt started when exposed to the experiences of adoptees many years ago. We both connected with the many struggles and feelings they shared. Building on that, we identified fertility challenges. While we both have genetic factors that make it next to impossible to conceive together, we always knew we wanted children. It was hard accepting our reality at first, but trusted our path. We always wanted to grow our family through adoption. Years later, after processing and growing as people, we now know that adoption IS how we will build our family. We would like multiple children to call our own and are VERY eager to meet our children and all that comes with them. Challenge and blessing(s) accepted.
