Dear Birthmom

As we sit here writing this, our hearts are pounding with excitement as we consider how adoption will change our lives forever. We know this is a very difficult time and understand the wide range of emotions you must be going through as you try to figure out what the best options are for you and your baby. We hope you feel supported and loved no matter the decision you make, and we admire your strength in considering adoption. We know you are looking for a safe and loving home for your baby and we would be grateful to provide that home. We are eager to share our lives with a child, and thankful to you for helping us do so.

We promise to provide a supportive and nurturing home for your baby. We will give your baby every opportunity possible as they grow into a wonderful person. We will have fun, play sports, expand their imagination through games and books, and encourage them to find their own passions and interests. We will explore the beautiful nature around our small town while walking through the woods, swimming in the nearby river and lakes, and playing in the many parks. Your baby will always know the love of family.

Our thoughts and hearts go out to you as you continue through your pregnancy and make the best decision for you and your baby. We are hopeful that you will trust us to care for your beautiful gift and look forward to building our family with your help.

Our Story

Hello! We are Taylor and Michael, a young, professional couple born and raised in the Midwest. Taylor is a children’s therapist, and Michael works in insurance analytics. We spend our time playing board games, gardening, and relaxing with our pets. We also love to travel, spending many of our weekends visiting family or heading to the beach. Hilton Head Island is a favorite destination of ours and is even where we got married. Taylor is also very handy and creative. She knits and crochets (specializing in stuffed animals) but also knows her way around power tools, having made her own gardening bench from scrap lumber. Michael enjoys reading and trivia but also has a creative side in painting and writing.

 Our Extended Family

We both have extremely supportive and close families. Taylor’s parents live a few hours away on the dairy farm where Taylor grew up. She has an older and a younger brother who both live near there with their wives and our baby nephew. Whether it’s Easter, the annual Father’s Day family reunion, or just a local chicken dinner, we always find some excuse to get her side of the family together every month. Taylor’s brothers talk a mile a minute and constantly tease her, but the love they all have for each other is obvious.

Michael’s mom and dad moved to Florida when they retired to be closer to his brother (and also because it’s warmer than Indiana). Due to the distance, we only get to see them about once a year, but we have weekly video calls with them. Michael also has aunts, uncles, and cousins scattered over the Midwest whom we go to see often. The newest addition is an adorable baby cousin, who we just became godparents for.

 Our Home

We’ve got a wonderful 3-story home with a fenced in backyard perfect for grilling and outdoor games. We share our house with our two black lab mixes, Polly and Kippy, and four affectionate cats. Our town is small but is home to a state college. It’s wonderful to have the small-town, friendly neighborhood feel but still have the cultural opportunities and events a college brings. Our town is full of art and parks. We regularly enjoy strolling through the sculpture park and our house is within walking distance of four parks and a nature trail, which is good since the dogs love walks.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We’ve both always known we wanted children, so when we found out we couldn’t have any ourselves, we knew adoption was right for us. Growing up, we both saw the beauty of families grown through adoption. Michael has a cousin brought into his family, and Taylor has friends who were adopted through international programs. Through these relationships, we both have an understanding of the struggles of the adoption process but have also seen the love and connection on the other side. We are excited to build our family through adoption.
