Dear Birthmom

I truly admire you for considering adoption as an option for your child. While I will never be able to understand exactly what you must be feeling as you consider this difficult decision, I want you to know how grateful I am that because of your choice, I might have the opportunity to become a mama. This is the ultimate selfless gift, and it would be an honor to be chosen to parent your child.

As a mom, I would like to provide a life of adventure, learning, and love. We will have pool parties with friends and cousins, hikes with aunties, weekly family dinners filled with jokes and stories with Grammy and Grampy, and world travel adventures with me. I hope to instill a love of learning and exploration as well as the value of the deep roots provided by close family. I’m blessed to be surrounded by wonderful and supportive family and friends and can’t wait for the day I can share that incredible love with a child.

My sincere hope is that you would like to share in that love, in an amount you feel comfortable with. You will always be one of the most significant people in this child’s life, and no matter how much contact you would like to maintain, they will always be told how deeply you love them. I want you to know how much we will always love you and be grateful for you as well.

My Story

I’m Lauren, a playful, outgoing, silly, adventurous accountant. While work is not my life, I’m very fortunate to have a career that provides well for me. I get to work with my family at our small accounting business, and when it’s not our busy season, I have a lot of time for the activities and people I love. At home, I’ll be working out, swimming in the backyard, crocheting, tending to my numerous house plants, or working on a home improvement project. I love DIY! Northern California is a beautiful place to explore, so I’m frequently spending time hiking and paddleboarding. I often imagine what a delight it would be to get to show my favorite places to a child, from redwood forests to lakes, the ocean, and my favorite beaches. I have a passion for travel and look forward to seeing the world with my little one.

 My Extended Family

I’m so lucky my parents and two of my three younger brothers all live so close to me. “Sunday funday” is our weekly family visit and meal. While the activities can range from just watching football to crafting with Grammy and the kids or water balloon fights, it’s always a blast and is a treasured tradition. We take turns hosting, and our homes are filled with laughter and fun every week. My youngest brother comes up from Southern California often to join in the good times.

I have a very close relationship with my mother, and another tradition is our annual girls’ weekend. We find a new location to explore together every year, and it will be so exciting when that trip can include my child (boy or girl, Grammy can’t wait). My family is thrilled for me to be adopting and so excited to be bringing another little one into the family fun. I love that I can provide a child with the experience of growing up with cousins to play with, aunties and uncles to look up to, and Grammy and Grampy to love and spoil them, with all living just minutes away.

 My Home

I bought my four-bedroom, two-bathroom home just over three years ago and have been dreaming about filling it with family since then. I love my home and my safe and quiet neighborhood. My brother and his wife and two little ones bought a house just nine doors down, and they frequently stop by to say hello while out on walks. We have a bike trail and many parks nearby with awesome playgrounds. My best friend and her family live about a ten-minute walk away. Having a pool in the backyard is a real treat in the summer. I love to host pool parties and BBQs. My brother, Ryan, lives with me, along with his dog, Bernie, a playful and goofy Yorkie-dachshund mix.

 My Journey to Adoption

As the oldest of four children, I have always seen myself in the role of a nurturer. I have heard since I was very young that I should be a mom someday (or a teacher). I remember watching Adoption Story on TLC when I was 11 or 12 years old and being so moved by the process. I felt then adoption was the right choice for me to have my own family someday. Somehow my vision of the future was me as a single mom, and that’s me today: a single woman hoping this path will lead me to motherhood.
