Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

We would like to start by saying thank you. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for your honesty and bravery during what we can only imagine is a very difficult time. You are stronger than you think, and all we can say is thank you for considering us. Knowing there is a possibility we could be bringing your baby into our family is something we haven’t found the right words for yet, but we hope what you have seen so far shows our unwavering love for our family. We have prayed for this experience and you, specifically for almost a year now. This is where we were led, and we could not be more excited and overwhelmed with happy emotions.

What we hope for the baby is that they smile as widely and hug as tightly as our daughter, Aubrey, does every day. When we see or feel those things from her, we look at each other and think we must have done something right. Our house is a safe place for creativity, growth, and love.

During this experience, we hope you feel nothing but positivity and support from us.
We will be forever grateful and speak about your undeniable love for the little one growing inside you.

Our Story

We met while we were working together at a retail store. Hugo had some persuading to do to win Megan over. Once he did, you could say we’ve been inseparable ever since. We’ve been together going on 13 years and have lived in three different states together. We love going to sporting events, comedy clubs, and concerts together. Hugo personally thinks he is the funniest guy in town, and our daughter, Aubrey, would agree. Hugo has worked his way up the corporate ladder, starting at the ground floor, and is now a market manager. Megan became her own boss when she opened her own business in town.

 Our Extended Family

Megan has three brothers; two live out of state, and we do multiple visits a year to see each other. Megan’s parents are her guiding light and are called Lolly and Pop Pop by the grandchildren. Lolly watches Aubrey one day a week; she has the best house for arts and crafts and a healthy snack. Pop Pop is a real-life Mr. Fix-It. Every year for her birthday, Pop Pop builds something handmade for Aubrey, whether it’s a craft table built for an engineer or a backyard swing set. Pop Pop makes sure everyone is happy and safe. Every year Megan’s family comes together for a huge family vacation in Wisconsin.

Hugo comes from a large family, with his mother being one of nine siblings and his dad being one of six. We don’t have enough fingers and toes to count the cousins, but one of Hugo’s closest cousins was the best man at our wedding. Hugo has five sisters. Three of Hugo’s sisters currently live in Shanghai, China, with Hugo’s dad and stepmom. We enjoy video chatting with them and learning about the culture. We have a weekly game night with his oldest sister and her two daughters.

 Our Home

We love where we live. Megan owns her own business and is a big part of the local community. We live in a quiet neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac that is right down the block from the elementary school the kids will go to; it’s Megan’s alma mater. Also, there are three parks within walking distance, not to mention our very own handcrafted swingset in our back yard built by Megan’s dad and uncle. We love to take our dogs, Finn and Zoe, on long walks, usually stopping at each park along the way for Aubrey. When the weather is right, we take the whole family on a walk to the local candy and ice cream shop two blocks away.

 Our Journey to Adoption

We both come from big, loving, and tight-knit families. Even when we first started dating, we had kids names picked out. After our daughter, Aubrey, was born, we were head over heels in love and so excited to be parents. Since we’ve never taken no for an answer, we knew instantly adoption was what we not only wanted but needed to do. We have been singing with excitement from the rooftops on the possibility of welcoming a second child into our family. We have been open and honest with our daughter in this adoption process. She tells everyone she meets how she is going to be a big sister and how even though she is only four, she is ready for all of the diaper changes and bedtime stories.
